Membership at the end of 2017
The Society operates on a 1 January-31 December year. At 31 December 2017, we had 237 ‘active members’ of the society, being those that either paid membership subs for 2017, or were complimentary members for that year.
In addition, there were 90 institutional subscribers to The Rangeland Journal, who pay their subscription to CSIRO.
Membership renewals for 2018
At the commencement of the year, we had 206 members who were either paying members in 2017 or those who were complimentary members for 2018 only. These people whose paid or complimentary memberships expired on 31 December 2017 have been sent renewal notices.
This excluded those members who opted for three year (2017-2019) memberships. Three year memberships – for 2018-2020 – are again be a renewal option.
Renewals as at 6 March are shown below. A total of 107 members have paid subscriptions for 2018, and two new people have joined the society since January.
Eight members have taken up 2018-2020 memberships, giving a total of 29 members who have ‘multi-year memberships’.
There are still a further 99 people who were ‘active members’ in 2017 who need to pay to retain their membership privileges. The Council urges those people to pay as soon as possible, given that membership subscriptions are our major source of normal income to pay for operating expenses.

A further note on membership options
The success of the ‘multi-year’ membership option, with 29 people having taken up that option to date has encouraged Council to explore other multi-year membership types, such as 10-year memberships and perhaps life memberships. This is a work in progress, and so watch this space!
